In 2018, when my then-partner left his stable job to follow his dream to start his own business, I, inadvertently, found myself as the breadwinner of our family. To make ends meet, while he struggled to get his fledging company off the ground, I juggled my main passion as an actor with all of my side hustles and part-time jobs to make sure that we were always provided for. It was in this seminal period that I concepted the ideas for my designs. I wanted to celebrate all the women who trailblazed the path before me and juggled it all for their loved ones. When the pandemic hit, millions of working women were affected and some had to shutter their small businesses to care for their families. I was raised by a female breadwinner and my closest friends are also female breadwinners. This is an ode to them. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.
